CQC and VDE certification of terminal blocks

The terminal block is an accessory product that realizes electrical connection, and is industrially divided into connectors. In the terminal industry, common safety certifications include domestic CQC certification, German VDE certification and American UL certification. Today we mainly introduce the CQC certification and VDE certification with similar standards.




CQC certification: conditions

1) The AC rated voltage does not exceed 1000V, the frequency does not exceed 1000Hz, and the DC voltage does not exceed 1500V;

2) Two or more hard copper wires (solid or stranded) or soft copper wires with a cross-sectional area of 0.2-35mm2 should be electrically connected.

5) Connection box and housing (GB 17466).



Unit division

1) Units are divided according to the type, structure, material, rated connection capacity, rated insulation voltage, ambient temperature, and IP rating of the clamp.

2) Depending on the type, structure, material, ambient temperature, and IP rating of the clamp, but the rated connection capacity and rated insulation voltage are different, they can be divided into the same unit.

When sending samples, the connector sample with the largest connection capacity or the same connection capacity and the largest number of connecting wires will be selected as the main inspection test sample, and other types of samples will be sent for differential testing.

CQC test standard of terminal block: GB / T 13140.1, according to different types of terminal block products, there will be different sub-standards corresponding. The main experimental items include: marking, wire connection, structure, temperature rise, clearance and creepage distance, mechanical strength, insulation material testing, etc.

CQC certification process: application + sample testing + factory inspection + certification + annual supervision and inspection

When the enterprise makes an inquiry, the product information of the terminal needs to be fully provided. The parameters include:

1) Rated insulation voltage 2) Rated connection capacity 3) Number of terminals 4) With or without protective device 5) Ambient temperature (40C

Terminals for household and similar purposes:


1. Terminal block with threaded clamping device

VDE test standards: DIN EN 60998-1, DIN 60998-2-1

The main test items:

-Logo (The trademark and model must be reflected on the product. The rest of the product information can be reflected on the small package.)

-Protection against electric shock

-Conductor connection (torque, tension, rotation test)

-Structural inspection

-Aging, moisture proof, IP testing

-Insulation resistance and electrical strength

- Mechanical strength

-Temperature rise test

-Heat resistance test

-Creepage distance and clearance

-Heat resistance and fire resistance test of insulation materials (glow wire test)

-Tracking resistance

2. Terminals with non-threaded clamping devices:


Test standard: EN 60998-1, EN60998-2-2

Compared with the terminal with threaded clamping device, there are the following additional test items: Mechanical strength test: In addition to the drop test of the roller, a bending test is also required. Temperature rise test: cycle test, 192 cycles

3. Connection terminal with insulation puncture clamping device

Test standard: EN60998-1, EN60998-2-3

Additional test items are as follows:

Temperature rise test (cycle test, 192 cycles or 384 cycles, short-time current withstand test)


4. Twisted connection device

        Test standard: EN 60998-1, EN60998-2-4
Additional test: temperature rise test (short time current withstand test, 384 cycles)
