1. What is E-MARK certification
E-mark certification is a certification system implemented in Europe for vehicles and parts products. According to relevant regulations, standards and directives, all vehicles and main parts and components that need to enter the market of its member states must pass E-mark certification and print the corresponding certification mark on the product, otherwise they will be detained by the customs and the importing country The market supervision agency punishes, and the entire vehicle cannot be listed on the road. E-mark is divided into two forms: E-mark (big E) and e-mark (small e). Due to writing habits, emark certification or e-mark certification is sometimes written.
1. E-mark certification (big E)
E-mark certification is a technical requirement implemented by the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) for the export of vehicles and parts to the markets of its member states. The certification standard is ECE Regulation. The Economic Commission for Europe is one of the United Nations agencies, not a European organization. Other member states have recognized the certification from about 60 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. At the same time, certificates issued by any member state are mutually recognized in other member states. Since the abbreviation of the Economic Commission for Europe is ECE, E-mark certification is also called ECE certification. In order to distinguish which member state issued the certificate, each member has a code, as shown in the figure below:

2. e-mark certification (small e)
The e-mark certification EU is a mandatory product certification system for vehicles entering the market of its member states. According to the certification standard EC Direction, after the vehicle and related parts pass the inspection and production consistency requirements, and the corresponding certification mark is printed on the product, it can be sold in the EU market and listed on the road. E-mark certificates can be issued by EU member states, and certificates issued by any member state can be recognized in other member states. Since the predecessor of the European Union was the European Economic Community (EEC) and later renamed the European Community (EC), the e-mark certification is also called EEC certification or EC certification.
2. E-MARK certification process and precautions
The E-mark certification process is roughly divided into the following six steps. The six steps are independent and interlocked, forming a complete set of closed-loop processes. It is roughly as follows:
Submission of applications: Saida helps companies to submit E-mark certification applications to the Ministry of Transport of EU member states;
Preparation of documents: According to E-mark certification requirements, Saida will guide companies to prepare relevant certification documents;
Sample delivery for testing: The company sends samples to designated laboratories for formal product testing according to requirements;
Report preparation: The engineers of the Ministry of Communications prepare reports based on test data and product descriptions that meet the requirements;
Submission for review: The engineer of the Ministry of Communications submits the complete report and information to the issuing country for review;
Certificate issuance: After the report and information are verified, the Ministry of Transport of the EU member states will issue an E-mark certificate.
There are also several points that need special attention:
1. A prerequisite for E-mark certification is that the company needs to have a valid ISO9001 or TF16949 system certificate, otherwise an on-site factory audit is required.
2. In order to prevent manufacturers from fraudulently using the E-mark certificate of foreign trade companies, some certification agencies allow the manufacturer's information not to be reflected in the certificate page, but only in the product description. At the same time, trading companies should not hand over the E-mark certificate to the manufacturer. From the source, it can effectively prevent the manufacturer from fraudulently using its own certificate.
3. E-mark certificates are generally valid for a long time, as long as the product itself has no substantial changes, the certification standards have not been significantly updated, and it can comply with the requirements of the issuing country.
4. The cost of E-mark certification needs to be determined according to the specific product, technical parameters and the country that the company chooses to issue the certificate. To understand the detailed cost and cycle, companies are welcome to call for more information and cooperation.
