Electronic wires are widely used in daily life. How to choose a compliant electronic wire has always been a concern of everyone. As the world's leading testing certification and standard certification body, UL has more than 100 years of service experience in the wire and cable industry. For the safety compliance assessment of electronic wires, UL has developed the UL758 standard to provide the basis for safety features for all cable consumer cables.
UL758 Electronic Wire
UL758 electronic wire (Appliance Wiring Material, AWM), mainly used for internal wiring of electrical equipment. It is widely used in factory installation and wiring. It can be used as wiring (internal wiring) in the enclosure of electrical appliances or other equipment, or interconnection lines (external wiring) between electrical appliances, and can also be used as a component of multi-core cables for further processing.

Applicable to UL758 standard electrical wiring cables (AWM), the minimum operating temperature is 60 ℃ (140 ° F) dry environment, the minimum rated voltage is 30V. Conductor specifications vary from 50AWG to 2000kcmil. Electrical wiring cables can also be composed entirely of optical fibers or a mixture of wires and optical fiber components.
UL Electronic Wire Comprehensive Certification Program
UL provides a comprehensive certification program for electronic wires (AWM) to help you objectively and reliably prove compliance, while enabling thousands of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to find and purchase your products.
For electronic wires, UL offers an extensive comprehensive certification program. We are able to test and certify electronic wires for new structures (models) for innovative applications and products to meet your needs in this regard. UL's AWM model database is unique and growing, and has become the industry standard for defining and sourcing these types of products. Therefore, in order to comply with various standards, many end product manufacturers formulate their procurement specifications based on each AWM model, and at the same time enable multi-vendor supply strategies.
UL758 Electronic Wire Part Certification Test Items and Cycle
We test AWM electronic wires according to ANSI/UL758 "Safety Standards for Electronic Wires". The specific type of experiment carried out depends on the product structure and intended use.
· Physical Property
· VW-1/FT1/Cable Flame test (vertical combustion)
· Crush Resistance
· Dielectric Test, Method I, II, III (withstand voltage test, Method I, II, III)
· Deformation Test
· FT2 Flame Test
· The certification completion cycle is roughly: 6-8 weeks
