Labeling system UL certification-UL969

UL certification is the most authoritative product certification in the label printing industry in the world. For many label printing manufacturers, they do not understand that the label will have the UL certification requirements of the United States. UL certified products need to use UL certified labels. In the UL & CUL logo and label system, the following product category numbers are often involved: PGDQ, PGJI, PGGU, PGIS, PGAA, these are UL label certification categories CCN, these categories are specifically introduced as follows:
1. Certification category
PGAA: UL label supplier authorized qualification;
Namely the system authorized to print UL logo. If the UL logo is printed on the sticker, the printing plant must have PGAA certification.
PGDQ: finished product of printed label, used for printing warnings, instructions and other product information content, generally self-adhesive labels. (Marking and labeling system) Labels that have been surface-treated and printed include at least surface materials, inks, adhesives and printing, and may also contain a combination of glazing films and/or surface materials.
PGGU: materials for printing labels (eg substrates, laminations, glues)
PGJI2: The semi-finished product of the label printed on the ribbon by the client. The combination of printed or unprinted face material and ink is printed by laser or thermal transfer, and users can add their own printing.
PGIS2: Restricted use labels (such as seasonal Christmas lights, wires, fire extinguishers, etc.), UL labels used on wires and cables.
Suffix 2: on behalf of UL certification (exported to the United States)
Suffix 8: stands for CUL certification (export to Canada)
2. the application process
PGDQ2, PGJI2, PGGU2, PGIS2 certification process:
Submit an application → open payment → send sample test → first production inspection (IPI) → four regular factory inspections a year
PGAA certification process:
Submit an application → payment for case opening → initial factory inspection → certification → four regular factory inspections a year
3. matters needing attention
-When applying for PGDQ2, PGJI2, and PGGU2, the main requirements are the cover, temperature level, and environmental requirements.
-The structure of the label is divided into two types:
1) Ink characters are printed on the front of the face material
2) Ink characters are printed on the back of the face material.
4. Documents required for UL certification
-Photocopy of the applicant/manufacturer/listed person’s business license
-UL label certification information table (according to the different CCN and label structure of the label, fill in the corresponding information table)
5. UL test standard-UL969
The main test items include: clarity test, abrasion test, adhesion test, tack test, etc.
