The United Kingdom has officially left the European Union. The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy) issued the latest announcement on September 1. The UKCA (UK conformity Assessed) mark is a new British product mark. From January 1, 2021, it will be applicable to products in the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales).
Comparison of CE regulations/directives and British regulations
It can be said that the requirements of UKCA products are basically the same as CE. The comparison table of CE regulations/directives and British regulations is as follows:
UKCA conformity assessment requirements
· Product model serial number or series
· The company name and address of the manufacturer or authorized representative in the UK
· Declare that the product complies with the relevant British regulatory requirements applicable to the product and the British regulatory name
· Declare full responsibility for product compliance
· Related British BS standards
· Details of the third-party conformity assessment body (when applicable)
· The name, function and signature of the signatory of the UKCA DoC
· Date of signing of UKCA DoC
The UKCA conformity assessment process is the same as the European Union’s CE mark. Manufacturers entering the UK market must also ensure the safety of their products. Manufacturers are responsible for conducting conformity assessment, formulating and maintaining technical documentation files, issuing UKCA DoC, and affixing the UKCA mark on the product. Only in this way can the product enter the UK market for trading. Manufacturers generally apply the UKCA mark in the following six steps:
1. Determine the applicable British regulations and BS standards for the product
2. Self-verify whether the product meets standard requirements
3. Determine whether it is necessary to conduct an independent conformity assessment by a designated UK agency
4. Test the product and check its compliance
5. Develop and save the required technical files
6. Finally apply the UKCA logo and draft and issue UKCA DoC

1. CE marked products that meet the requirements of the European Union can continue to be placed on the British market. The requirements of the European Union and the United Kingdom remain unchanged until January 1, 2022. (That is, from January 1, 2022, the United Kingdom will not recognize the CE mark in the areas covered by these guidelines and the UKCA mark.)
2. The UKCA mark will apply to most goods currently subject to CE marking.
3. The CE mark is only valid in areas where the UK and EU rules are consistent.

8. Some products are put into the UK market, and special regulations must be followed: such as medical devices, construction products, civil explosives, products that require eco-design and energy labels, etc.
9. Encourage enterprises to make full preparations as soon as possible after January 1, 2021, and use the UKCA mark.
