Q&A丨Adapters, handheld devices, export certification... Come and see if there are any questions you want to know!

Question one

Q: Ask everyone a question. For example, for a rechargeable vacuum cleaner, the output voltage of the adapter is greater than the battery voltage. Is there any problem?

Qunyou answered: No, your mobile phone charger outputs 5-20V, but the battery is only 4.4V?

Expert reply:

Qunyou's answer is reasonable.

Water only flows from a high place to a low place, the same height does not have a height difference, the water will not flow. The 4.2V output charger cannot "charge" the 4.2V battery.

If you ask in more detail, some specific communication effects may be better. The question may not have reached the point. For example, the question: "Battery voltage 19V⎓ Charging input voltage: 22V⎓ Charging current: 500 mA" is marked on the rechargeable vacuum cleaner. Is 22V higher than 19V?

Question two

Question from group friends: Please tell me, what standard is this?

Expert reply:

Blind guessing may be the "enterprise standard" in "International Standards-National Standards-Industry Standards Association Standards-Enterprise Standards".

Check on the "Enterprise Standard Information Public Service Platform" and confirm that it is a certain enterprise standard (see http://www.qybz.org.cn/standardProduct/toAdvancedResult.do).

Question three

Question from the group of friends: I would like to ask you, do you need UL certification for DC120V products exported to the United States?

Qunyou answered: UL certification itself is not mandatory.

Expert reply:

Qunyou's answer is reasonable.

The focus of the question is "Who wants you to get UL certification?" For example, Wal-Mart wants products that have UL certification and don't want you to supply them if they don't have UL certification. Then they can only do UL certification.

If you ask "Whether the XX product of DC120V is applicable to UL XXX standard", it is another matter that is related and different.

Question four

Qunyou question: I would like to ask you a question, which standard does the lithium electric pump use?

(Picture provided by Qunyou)

Expert reply:

There is no GB or GB/T standard specifically for air pumps "tailor-made".

If there is no standard that is more suitable for lithium electric pumps, it is assessed that it is also an electrical appliance. You can refer to the GB 4706.1-2005 "Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Safety Part 1: General Requirements" (IEC 60335-1:2004, IDT) standard.

Question five

A group of friends asks: I would like to ask everyone, is the massage mat set on the neck counted as a handheld device? Dry battery. For example, the skg spine massager, which is placed on the neck and cannot be recharged, should be evaluated as a handheld device or a portable device according to the standard.

Expert reply:

GB 4706.1-2005 "Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Part 1: General Requirements" (IEC 60335-1:2004, IDT) standard 3.5.2 defines:

3.5.2 hand-held appliance

Portable appliances intended to be held by hand during normal use

In terms of literal content, the massage cushion set on the neck is not a "hand-held appliance"; in terms of effects, some clauses can indeed refer to reasonable "hand-held appliance" clauses, for example:

11.2 Hand-held appliances, keep them in their normal positions during use.

19.7 Stall time

20.1 Except for fixed appliances and hand-held appliances, appliances intended to be used on a surface such as the floor or tabletop should have sufficient stability.

27.6 Printed circuits on printed circuit boards in hand-held appliances should not be used to provide grounding continuity.

The requirements of 30.2.2 flame resistance need to be further explored. I personally think that if it catches fire, it can be thrown away immediately, and there is still a difference between the two.

Question Six

Qunyou asked: Which safety and EMC certifications are required for vacuum cleaners exported to the United States?

Expert reply:

Usually safety certification (such as UL, ETL, etc.) and FCC certification are required.
