How to apply for TELEC certification

What is the Japanese TELEC certification?
Japan’s "Radio Law" requires type approval (ie, technical regulatory compliance certification) for designated radio equipment. TELEC certification is mandatory. TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center), a registered certification body recognized by MIC in the scope of designated radio equipment, is the main registered certification body for conformity certification of radio equipment in Japan. TELEC is also called MIC certification in Japan. TELEC is MIC is one of the designated issuing agencies, so it is collectively referred to as TELEC certification. TELEC is a mandatory certification for wireless products in Japan, which is somewhat similar to domestic SRRC. It follows the Japanese radio law. The specific test specifications follow the MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) Notice No. 88 regulations, and the update and maintenance of the test specifications are also carried out by MIC.
TELEC certification standard
The technical standards of TELEC certification refer to the classification and technical standards of designated radio equipment listed in the technical regulation compliance certification system on its official website. It is worth noting that if there are differences between these technical standards and the technical requirements of the Radio Regulatory Commission Rules No. 18, the Radio Regulatory Commission Rules No. 18 shall prevail.
TELEC certification type
TELEC certification includes test certification (Test Certification) and type certification (Type Certification). Test certification is to verify each equipment unit, and the certification is only valid for each equipment unit that has been verified; type certification refers to the verification of samples of a batch of equipment of the same design and manufacture. Effective, but if the design or manufacturing of the device is changed, the device will need to be recertified. It is worth noting that the use of non-low-power radio stations and their terminal equipment requires a license from MIC. In addition, there are two types of compliance certification for telecommunications terminal equipment: for ordinary telephone devices, only JATE certification is required according to the Telecommunications Business Law; for wireless terminal equipment, in addition to the JATE certification required by the Telecommunications Business Law, it also needs TELEC certification is required by the Radio Law.

TELEC application process
1. Customer: Submit the application form to the laboratory, prepare samples, sign a contract and pay.
2. Send samples to the laboratory: test and report, and preliminary review of data. Time: 2-3 weeks.
3. Japan MIC organization: final review and certification. Cycle: 1-2 weeks.
